Air fryer green beans are perfectly seasoned with slightly crispy edges. It is a lovely vegetable side that I sometimes just snack on. It is dairy free and healthy.
Green beans or haricot beans are a favourite vegetable of mine. I generally make a batch of 1 lb. at a go. My family enjoys it a lot.
Earlier I would stir fry it. But now I prefer to air fry them. Vegetables really turn out perfect in the air fryer.

Tips to Make the Best Air fryer Green Beans
- Choose fresh green beans that are not tough or fibrous. Snip off the ends. I generally line up about 10 of them. Align them so that their edges are in the same line. Then snip them off at one. This makes their prep faster.
- Dry the beans well.
- Toss them with olive oil, salt, pepper and garlic powder so that each bean is well coated.
- Put them in a preheated air fryer. You can put the entire 1 lb. batch in at one go.
- Air fry for about 7 minutes till they are cooked and start browning. Don’t cook them too long or they become stringy and tough. I like them cooked and soft while being just slightly crisp at the edges.
- Shake the basket once or twice during air frying for even cooking.
- Zero-oil recipe: You can skip oil in the recipe and just use vegetable broth or lemon juice in its place. The beans do look drier on air frying and don’t have gloss.
- You can make this recipe from frozen beans too. Just double the air frying time. Toss beans with seasonings and oil once they have almost thawed in the air fryer.
- You can use minced garlic in place of garlic powder. You can also garnish the green beans after air frying with powdered peanuts for added taste. Adjust spices as per taste. If you like your beans spicier, you can use cayenne or peri peri seasoning too.
Stepwise Pictures:
1. Wash and dry your green beans. Snip off the ends and keep aside.

2. In a wide shallow plate, take green beans. Add olive oil to them.
Add in the spices.
3.cToss them together till they are well coated.
4. Preheat air fryer at 160C or 320F for 4 minutes.
Lay the tossed green beans in the air fryer basket.
5. Air fry at 160C or 320F for about 5-7 minutes till they are well cooked and start browning yet still retain a bit of crunch.
I like them crispier and browner, so I cooked them for 2 minutes more.
Take care not to them too long or they become stringy and dry.
Take them out and serve hot.
In case of leftovers store in the fridge for up to a couple of days and reheat them in air fryer at 160C or 320F for 2-3 minutes and serve hot.
