    Mushroom Puffs In Air fryer

These mushrooms puffs in air fryer are delightfully flaky and crispy on the outside with a tasty mushroom and onion filling. These were polished off in no time by my family.

I generally keep some puff pastry sheets in the freezer to whip up delectable snacks or even desserts like these Air fryer Oreos.

You can make the puff pastry from scratch if you so like.

You may also like: air fryer jalapeno poppers, Air fryer pickles, Fried Mushrooms in air fryer, air fryer stuffed mushrooms, air fryer corn on the cob.

    Ingredients

    1. Mushrooms: Use any mushrooms that you like. I used button mushrooms as that is what I had that day with me. Sautéed onions with mushrooms, herbs and spices are all you need for a lovely filling.
    2. Puff Pastry squares: Use store-bought ones and keep them in your freezer. Thaw them out before using. You could use a roll and cut them into even-sized squares.

Tips to Make the Best Mushroom Puffs in Air fryer

    1. Puff pastry sheets must be thawed before using. You can then lightly roll them out using a rolling pin if needed. I generally use the puff pastry squares as is.
    2. Make sure that you cook out any moisture in the mushroom filling or it will make your puffs soggy. Then cool down the filling before stuffing.
    3. You can use a bit of milk/plant milk or egg white to seal the pockets.
    4. Air fry till browned outside.
    5. If your puff pastry cracks a bit after putting in the filling then do use other bits to quickly repair the tears. I did that to a couple.
    6. I made puff pastry squares. Put the filling in the centre and then folded along the diagonal to form a triangular pocket. I then sealed the edges and then used a fork to create a ribbed design on the edges.

    To Make the Stuffing

Take together sliced onion, chopped mushrooms and finely minced garlic.

Sliced onion, chopped mushrooms and minced garlic on a blue chopping board.

Heat olive oil in a pan. Add sliced onions and fry for about 2-3 minutes till slightly golden.

Add the chopped mushroom and garlic.

    Mushrooms added to fried onion

Add the spices and salt. Cook it down till everything is nicely sautéed and no moisture remains.

Don’t use too many seasonings as mushrooms and sautéed onions taste great by themselves.

Spices added to sauteeing onions and mushrooms

You could only use only salt and pepper if you like.

Now take the stuffing and cool it down for about 10 minutes.

Take puff pastry squares and spread out the stuffing on each square.

4 Pastry squares with stuffing placed on top.

Fold over along the diagonal to form a triangular stuffed pocket.

Seal the ends using some milk/plant milk. Then take a fork and press down the edges to nicely seal them.

Triangular pockets with stuffing formed with puff pastry sheets.

    In air fryer

Preheat air fryer at 390F or 200C for 4 minutes.

Lightly brush the basket with oil. Then lay the mushroom puffs after brushing with some oil or egg white.

This helps in making the puffs golden brown.

6 pastry puffs placed in air fryer basket ready for air frying.

Air fry for about 8-10 minutes at 200C or 390F till the puffs are nicely browned and cooked.

You may flip the puffs midway or at around 5 minutes.

    In the oven

    Preheat your oven to 400F.

Lay the pastry puffs on a parchment paper lining the baking tray. Bake for about 15 minutes or till the puffs are nicely browned.

Take them out and serve them hot with ketchup or a dip of choice. Enjoy!
