These crispy fried pickles are a wonderful appetizer. They are tart and flavourful with a crunchy exterior. A great party or game day snack!

I love pickles. They brighten up sandwiches, wraps and salads. I also pick up a few and eat them as is.

Having these fried pickles made in air fryer makes them guilt free sans all the grease.

This recipe is low oil and is dairy free too. Super easy recipe.

Tips and Tricks to make best air fryer pickles:

    1. Drain the pickles and dry them well. This helps the coating to adhere well.

    2. Using panko breadcrumbs makes them crunchier but homemade breadcrumbs work very well too.

    3. Brushing with oil during air frying helps them get a fried appearance and also gets them to taste better.

    4. In case you don’t want dairy free, you can substitute Greek or plant-based yogurt with one beaten egg.

    5. I have used spears. You can easily do slices. They take lesser time to cook but fewer will fit at one go.

    6. Change the spices or seasonings as per your choice.

    7. Serve with dip of choice. I love ketchup, mayo, Chipotle mayo and Sriracha sauce.

    Stepwise Pictures:

Drain the pickles. I have used dill pickles here but you can use any kind. Dry them using paper towers. Cut into thick, long slices.

Take Greek yogurt or plant-based yogurt in a shallow plate, add 1 cup all-purpose flour and mix well to form a slurry.

You could also use one beaten egg with 2 tbsp. water in place of yogurt.

Take 1 cup breadcrumbs, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne, pepper and salt in another bowl and mix well.

Air fry at 390F or 200C for about 4-5 minutes.

Midway, brush the pickles with oil and air fry more.

This helps in giving a more fried appearance to the pickles while not loading them with too much oil.
