This air fryer chocolate cake is super easy and quick to make. You don’t have to heat up an oven for a small cake that makes for the perfect sweet treat for a small family.

I do not like baking large cakes as I prefer small indulgences. Knowing as we do that cakes are not really healthy.

If you are looking to have a cake done in 30 minutes then air fryer version works really well.

This recipe is for chocolate cake made from a packet. I used Pilsbury’s chocolate fudge cake mix for this cake.

But, I have also made other cakes and breads from scratch in air fryer, and they turn out perfect.

So you can try the same air fryer time for your from scratch cake.

You will love this banana bread in air fryer, air fryer Oreos,  peanut butter cookies in air fryer, homemade granola in air fryer and chocolate peanut butter made using Air fryer.

Tips for Making the Perfect Air fryer Chocolate Cake

    1. Make the cake batter as per instructions on the packet. You can make two cakes in 6” cake pans. That is the one that fits in my air fryer basket.
    2. I used silicone cake mould. You can use your regular cake pan that you use in oven for baking this one.
    3. Preheat the air fryer. After putting the cake batter in the pan, air fry for 22-25 minutes till the cake is done.
    4. Since this was a chocolate fudge cake, it had gooey fudgy parts and veins on top. When making a regular chocolate cake, you can insert a toothpick in the centre to check that it comes out clean. Your cake is then cooked.
    5. I did not get a dark top but in case you do, you can cover the top of the cake midway into air frying by foil.
    6. Let the cake cool down before demoulding and cutting into pieces.
    7. You can choose to put frosting on top or just serve it as a tea cake. It is delicious.

    Stepwise Pictures

Generally a Pilsbury’s cake mix yields two 6” diameter cakes. I make one at a time for a small treat for my family.

As per the instructions on the pack, add wet ingredients to the dry cake mix and prepare a batter.

Put in the cake mould in the air fryer basket.

Air fry at 180C or 360F for 22-25 minutes till the cake is cooked and toothpick inserted in the centre comes out clean.

Let the cake cool down before demoulding and cutting it into pieces. Enjoy your delicious chocolate cake.
