Air fryer Potatoes with a crispy skin, seasoned just with sea salt and topped with a dollop of vegan butter is wholesome deliciousness that is comforting.

I just love baked potatoes and making them in Air fryer makes them mess free, quick and super simple.

Baked potatoes are a comfort food. Crispy skin outside and soft and fluffy inside.

Pair it with salad or a protein and they make for such a delicious meal.

I never realized how easy it is to bake a potato in the Air fryer.

I made these amazing baked sweet potatoes in the Air fryer, and they are spectacular. So obviously baking potatoes was next on the cards.

    Here's the simple recipe:

    Step-by-step Pictures

Wash and dry the potatoes. Leave the skin on.

Now pierce all over with fork or knife. Mix garlic powder and pepper in oil and apply it all over the potatoes.

    Air frying Potato

Preheat the Air fryer at 390 F or 200 C for 5 minutes.

Brush the basket with oil. Now arrange the potatoes and air fry for about 30 minutes.

The skin should become nice and crispy and the potato must get well cooked.

I check by piercing with a knife to see that it is cooked all the way through.

Take it out and serve with a nice big blob of butter (or vegan butter).

You can also serve with spicy mayo which is my favourite.

    FAQs

    1. Which potatoes should I use?

Russet potatoes work beautifully. Yukon Gold are also good. I use just about any potatoes available. If you are in India, then both the regular and new varieties work great.

    2. What seasonings can I use?

I love just sea salt, garlic and pepper. Garnish it with butter or vegan butter. You can use other seasonings like dried herbs or chilli flakes. And cheese (or vegan cheese) melted on top is great too. I love spicy mayo as well.

    3. Which oil is good to use?

Any oil with a high smoking point works well. Regular vegetable oil, olive oil, avocado oil are all fine to use.

    4. What size potatoes should I use?

Using medium size potatoes is good. If you are using smaller or larger, adjust your cooking time.

    5. What can I serve baked potatoes with?

You can serve them with a nice salad. If you like some protein then a side of air fried chicken, tofu, air fried broccoli, air fried fish fillet all work beautifully.

    6. Can I make this recipe vegan?

Yes, you can use vegan toppings like vegan butter, vegan mayo or vegan cheese. The rest of the recipe is vegan.

    Instructions

    • Wash and dry the potatoes. Leave the skin on.
    • Now pierce all over with fork or knife. Mix garlic powder and pepper in oil and apply it all over the potatoes.

    Notes

    1. The time of cooking changes with the size of the potatoes used. For large potatoes, it is about 40 minutes. For small to medium between 20-25 minutes and for medium between 30-35 minutes. 2. Do keep checking every few minutes to see how the potatoes are coming along. 3. You can skip poking the potatoes. It does not make much of a difference. 4. These potatoes taste so fluffy and delicious. The crispy skin is really tasty as well. Enjoy baked potatoes with your favourite salad and protein. 5. The best part is that you can just put them in the Air fryer and then it needs nothing more to be done except occasional monitoring. Really super easy to make. 5. To check for doneness, poke the potato. If it is done, you can poke all the way through.

Look at that crispy skin! These baked potatoes are perfect! Isn't the air fryer one of the greatest inventions of recent years? I also have a sweet spot for baked potatoes and now that I know I can achieve such results in the air fryer there will be no going back to the traditional way.
