Skillet green beans or sauteed green beans are the simplest to make. I have used just the very basic of ingredients in my pantry, and it turns out so tasty. Really a perfect vegetable side.

You can use bush beans or haricot verts here. In both the cases, the green beans turn out so crispy and soft. If you are making air fryer green beans, then try the recipe link shared. I like to cut each bean into 1 inch pieces. But you can trim the ends and leave them whole too.

You can try these roasted zucchini, air fryer eggplant fries, cheesy broccoli bites, crunchy oyster mushroom or crispy okra

    Ingredients

Fresh Green Beans: 1.5 pounds or about 500 gm. Is used

Olive Oil: I have used 1 tbsp. olive oil here.

Garlic: 3 large cloves are used here.

Onion: I use 1 onion finely diced here.

Salt and Pepper: Used to taste

Red Pepper Flakes: about ½ tsp. is used for a bit of heat. This is optional.

    Instructions

Rinse green beans with water. Trim the ends and leave them whole. Or cut them into smaller pieces. Finely dice one onion and mince garlic cloves.

That is the prep you need to do. Heat a skillet. You can use cast iron, metal or non-stick one. Add 1 tbsp. olive oil. Add in diced onion and minced garlic. Saute for about a minute till it is nicely fined.

Add in the green beans. Add salt, pepper and chilli flakes.

Mix well and cover. Cook on low heat. Covering helps in trapping moisture and making the beans tender while staying crisp.

Cook for 7-10 minutes or till your beans are cooking to your preferred tenderness. Your delicious green beans are done. Simple yet so delicious.

You can serve them as a delicious vegetable side.

    Expert Tips

    1. I don’t blanch the beans as covering and cooking them helps in making them tender and saving you one step in cooking green beans.

    2. Choose fresh green beans for the best taste. Also make them in a single layer so that they cook uniformly.

    3. If you wish to use frozen beans, then thaw and drain well before using.

    4. Leftovers stay for upto 3 days in an air tight container in the fridge. Reheat in microwave or skillet before consuming.
