Garlic Parmesan Chicken Wings in air fryer is a delicious and indulgent appetiser. Addictively tasty, the recipe is really easy to make at home and needs minimal supervision.
Wings were meant for the air fryer. I am not joking. They turn out superbly crispy without the use of any extra fat.
Some of the fat from the chicken renders and drips down during air frying making them healthier.
Wings crisp up well without using any flour, starch or baking powder. Initially I would use baking powder or soda but not any more. Then all you need is your favourite rub or sauce to toss in.

Tips to Make Crunchy Air fryer Wings
1. Choose wings with skin. Skin crisps up nicely when air fried.
2. Add the seasoning just before putting the wings for air frying. This ensures that the salt in the seasonings does not make the wings wet which then becomes difficult to crisp up.
3. Pat your wings dry before applying any rub to them.
4. Always add the sauce immediately after air frying the wings to ensure that they don't get soggy. Don’t keep them sitting for long.
5. You can make crispy wings from frozen as well. Once they are thawed enough, you can take them out and cut into smaller parts and then continue with the recipe like that for fresh wings.
6. Any seasoning works well on the wings. Try different ones as per your liking. Same is with sauces that you can toss them in after air frying.
7. You do not need baking powder, soda, flour or cornstarch for crispy wings. I used them earlier as well but I realised that they are not needed. The wings turn out crunchy enough on their own.
Variations:
You can make this recipe healthyish by reducing the quantity of cheese and butter used in the sauce.
You can make this recipe dairy free, by using vegan butter and vegan cheese.
Stepwise Pictures
Wash chicken wings and pat them dry.
Be cautious with the quantity of salt as the final sauce has butter and cheese both of which contain salt.
Toss them with salt, pepper and garlic powder till they are well coated.
Don't leave it for long or the wings will start releasing water.
Air frying Instructions
Pre-heat the Air fryer at 390 F or 200 C for 4 minutes.
Arrange the wings on the basket in one layer. I could fit 1.5 lbs. at one go.
If they overlap a little, that is fine.
Air fry at 390F or 200C for about 17-20 minutes till crispy and well cooked.
You will see chicken fat rendering during air frying.
The skin starts crisping up as air frying progresses and starts turning darker.
You can flip the wings once during the air frying cycle.
I take out one wing and check it for crispness and doneness.
Air fry for a couple of minutes more if needed.
Prepare the sauce
Meanwhile prepare the garlic parmesan sauce by mixing together 2 tsp. butter with 2 tbsp. grated parmesan, 2 cloves minced garlic and 1 tsp. finely chopped parsley.
Mix well and pour on the crispy wings. Toss and serve hot with a dip or sauce of choice.
These garlic parmesan wings in air fryer are so delicious that you will not really need any sauce with them either.
The entire batch was gone very quickly.
Storage
You can air fry large batches and make the sauce and keep aside. Then you can reheat them for about 2-3 minutes and toss in the sauce and serve.
This is perfect for get togethers or for game night.

These are amazing! I love air fryer wings, but I usually stick with Buffalo style. Saw this and figured I'd change things up and now I'm obsessed 🙂

Your recipe sounds delicious but salting an hour or so ahead really improves the depth of flavor with any meat. Simply pat dry the salt sweated out and proceed with your recipe.
