These air fryer chicken wings dry rub are a crispy and delicious appetizer. It is an easy newbie-friendly recipe needs no breading, cornstarch or baking powder.
Chicken wings done in air fryer are among my favorite appetizers to have. I have stopped eating the greasy, deep fried stuff.
These wings taste like a bomb, and are absolutely easy to do. You can prepare them in large batches for a party or get together.
You can try my favorite garlic parmesan wings in air fryer, frozen wings in air fryer, Buffalo wings in air fryer, air fryer teriyaki chicken wings, air fryer jerk chicken wings and air fryer crispy lemon pepper wings.
These sticky sweet honey garlic wings and Korean chicken wings with gochujang sauce are another delight.
Tips for Making Best Dry Rub Chicken Wings
1. Choose fresh or frozen chicken wings. I prefer to cut them into drumettes and wingettes.
2. Use any rub of your choice. I have mixed basic spices and used.
3. You can add a little brown sugar to your rub for sweet and sticky wings.
4. Make sure that the wings don’t overlap when air frying or they won’t cook evenly.
5. Some people using baking powder for crisping up the wings but I feel it is not needed.
Stepwise Pictures
Wash and pat dry your chicken wings.
Assemble salt, pepper, garlic powder, chili powder and Italian seasoning.
Toss the wings with the spice mix.
Make sure that the dry rub gets on all the wings. There is no need to use any oil.
For Air frying
Pre-heat the Air fryer at 390 C or 200 C for about 4 minutes.
Arrange chicken wings on the basket in one layer. Make sure they are not overlapping.
Air fry for about 16-20 minutes at 390F or 200C till crispy and well cooked.
You can flip the wings midway during air frying.
You will see chicken fat starts rendering and the skin crisps up well and good.
Unless your wings are very meaty you will not need more air frying time.
Serve the wings hot with a dip of your choice like Ranch, honey mustard or Chipotle mayo.
For Baking
Preheat the oven to 400 F for 15 minutes.
Arrange wings on the rack so that they are not touching.
Bake for 45 minutes till crispy and done.
If you have leftover wings, you can try reheating chicken wings in air fryer.

That rub sounds delicious. I'm thinking it would be good on tofu too.
