Donut holes are addictively delicious. Great for snacking or a little dessert treat. The best part? No hassle of deep frying to enjoy them at home. I’ve been making these in my air fryer, and they have quickly become a family favorite.

These donut holes are really simple to make. The dough comes together with two basic ingredients: self-raising flour and yogurt. I have used vanilla vegan yogurt. Coat them in cinnamon sugar after tossing them in vegan butter. Yum!

You will also love air fryer strawberry mug cake, chocolate mug cake, air fryer donuts, air fryer banana donut holes, air fryer Oreos, peanut butter cookies in air fryer.

    Ingredients

    1. Dry ingredients: I am using self-raising flour here. You can also use all-purpose flour with baking powder and a pinch of salt in its place.

    2. Wet ingredients: Any plant-based vanilla yogurt works. I prefer to use the lightly sweetened ones. If you are using a plain one, then you will have to add some extra sugar and vanilla extract.

    3. Coating: After air frying the donut holes, I roll them in melted vegan butter and then in cinnamon and powdered sugar. You can try making a glaze too.

    Instructions

In a mixing bowl, stir together the self-raising flour and sweetened plant-based vanilla yogurt. I used cashew vanilla yogurt. You can use fruit yogurt too. Mix together till you get a dough. It is slightly sticky, and that is fine.

Divide the dough into two parts and then roll it out into cylinders. You can apply a bit of oil on your palms if the dough is too sticky. Also, don't overmix the dough.

Divide each cylinder into equal parts and shape them into small balls like donut balls.

Preheat air fryer at 180C or 360F for 3 minutes. Place the donut balls in air fryer basket after spraying or brushing with oil. Leave a little space in between them so that they cook uniformly.

Shake the basket midway. Air fry for about 5-8 minutes till the donut holes are cooked. They will be cracked and golden brown. They will not look perfectly golden like deep fried.

Now take melted vegan butter in a bowl. Toss the air fried donut holes in vegan butter so that they are fully coated. In another plate, take cinnamon sugar. Immediately roll the donut holes in cinnamon sugar so that it sticks well.

To make cinnamon sugar, combine ½ cup sugar with 1 tsp. ground cinnamon.

There you go. Delicious and easy air fryer donut holes are ready to eat. Enjoy them as a nice sweet treat. You can have them for breakfast or as a snack or dessert.

    Expert Tips

    1. If you don’t have self-raising flour, no problem! Just mix 1 cup of all-purpose flour with 1 teaspoon of baking powder and a pinch of salt. It works perfectly as a substitute.

    2. Keep an eye on your donut holes when they are cooking. We don't want them cooking too longer. Don't aim for dark golden colour or they will get dense.

    3. You can also add some melted chocolate or make a glaze for the donut holes.

    4. Any plant-based yogurt works here. Those who consume dairy can use Greek yogurt.
