French fries is a favourite snack or side, right? I guess most of you would say yes to that. Loaded fries in air fryer are even more sinful and perfect for an indulgence. My teen loves it.

Air fryer loaded fries are done in about 20 minutes. That is the time it takes for air frying French fries. The loaded bit barely takes any time and effort.

This is a perfect recipe for get togethers and game nights.

You may also like air fryer loaded nachos, air fryer onion petals, air fryer potato chips, air fryer potato crisps, air fryer crispy corn.

    Ingredients

Fries: I have used 1 lb. Pack of frozen fries. If you wish to make French fries from scratch, you can try the recipe.

Cheese: 1 cup of cheddar cheese and mozzarella cheese mix. Taco cheese mix works well.

Vegetables: I used chopped scallion and tomatoes here.

Olives: I have used 2 tbsp. of sliced black olives in the recipe.

Jalapeños: 1 tbsp. of chopped pickled jalapeños add small bursts of tart and spice here.

Sriracha sauce: I drizzled some for a nice spicy kick.

Optionals: Serve with drizzled sour cream, guacamole and fresh salsa on the side. You can also use some protein like leftover chili or refried beans.

    Variations and Substitutions

This recipe is meatless and uses dairy in the form of cheese. For meat lovers, sautéed beef or chicken mince could be used as a topping. You can also use cooked crumbled bacon for burst of saltiness.

Use as much cheese as you like and try out different cheeses as per taste and availability.

    Serving Suggestions

Just a delightfully filling and hearty snack. Make it for your kids for movie nights, game nights or for an evening snack.

    Instructions

First part of the recipe is in making French fries in air fryer. Try this recipe to make air fryer French fries from scratch. If like me, you are using frozen French fries, then just take frozen fries in air fryer, toss with salt and pepper.

Use silicone mat/parchment paper to line the air fryer basket. Lay French fries on top. I air fried 1 lb. fries for 16-17 minutes at 200C or 390F till they were golden and crispy.

Meanwhile, assemble all the toppings. Chop all the veggies you are using. Cut scallions into whites and greens. Also chop peppers, tomatoes and onions and keep aside.

Take olives and jalapeños in a bowl. Take shredded cheese in a bowl. If using sour cream, salsa and guacamole, take them out as well.

I also used Sriracha sauce because I love extra heat. It is optional.

Once the fries are done, top them generously with cheese. Air fry at 360F or 180C for about 3 minutes till the cheese is bubbly and has melted.

Your delightful loaded fries in air fryer are done. Absolutely amazing in taste. Serve them hot.

    Expert Tips

    1. Cook the French fries till they are crispy. Only then add cheese and air fry more. Fries must not be underdone.

    2. If making French fries from scratch, you will need slightly more time, but otherwise the recipe is the same.

    3. Using aluminium foil, parchment paper or silicone mat to line the air fryer basket helps in taking out the loaded fries out in a more manageable manner. Just use a spatula to gently guide out the silicone mat from the side of the air fryer. Be careful as the basket will be hot.

    4. Use any toppings that you have and like. Everything tastes good here.

    5. These loaded fries are best served hot. They will get soggy if you store them. But if you have leftovers, you can store them in an air tight container for a couple of days in the fridge. Reheat and serve though they may not be too crispy.

    6. Season your French fries with salt and pepper when cooking.
