Crispy bacon adds flavour to everything. Whether you serve it for breakfast, add it to your sandwich or just snack on it, it is delicious.

Cooking bacon in the air fryer is a game changer. Less of mess and you get perfectly crispy bacon without minding the stove. It is the easiest way to cook bacon with minimal mess and easy cleanup.

You will also love: bacon wrapped shrimp in air fryer, pigs in a blanket, bacon wrapped chicken bites in air fryer.

    Ingredients

Bacon: That is all that you need. I have used four to five strips of leaner back bacon here. You can use rashers as well.

    Instructions

Start by laying the bacon strips in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Try not to overlap them too much. This helps them cook evenly. You can always cook in batches.

Set your air fryer to 180C or 360F. I have not preheated it this time. Cook the bacon for 5-7 minutes at 180C or 360F. I prefer my bacon to be nice and crispy. This was lean hence it was crispy at 7 minutes.

If you prefer paler and not so crispy then 5 minutes ought to be fine. Do keep an eye on the bacon after 6 minutes as the time will vary depending upon how thick your bacon strips are.

Thicker bacon slices will need about 8-10 minutes at 360F or 180C.

Once done, transfer the bacon to a plate. Your crispy bacon is done. You will have fat rendered from the bacon in the bottom pan of your air fryer basket.

    Expert Tips

    1. Depending upon the thickness of your bacon, your time for air frying may lie between 5-7 minutes for leaner bacon to 8-10 minutes for thicker slices.

    2. Be careful to avoid too much overlap of bacon strips in the air fryer. Cooked bacon renders fat and reduces in size but needs enough air circulation to crisp up evenly.

    3. I cook bacon below 400F or 200C so that it does not smoke. You may also add a bread slice in the bottom pan of your air fryer basket to absorb the fat that falls below. That way again your air fryer will not smoke.

    4. Serve crispy bacon with eggs and toast for breakfast. Or add it to salads, burgers etc. as per your choice.
