Air fryer cod is one of my favourite quick and healthy meals. It is crispy on the outside, flaky and tender on the inside and ready in under 15 minutes. Both fresh or frozen cod work great.
I make this air fryer cod recipe often on busy weeknights when I want something light but still satisfying. The mild flavour of cod pairs perfectly with just a few simple seasonings. Pair with rice and a simple salad for a wholesome meal.
You will have a high-protein healthy meal on the table in 15 minutes! How wonderful is that.

Ingredient Breakdown
Cod: You can use fresh or frozen cod fillets for this recipe. Pat the fish fillets with paper towels before using.
Olive Oil: Helps the seasonings stick and gives the fish a light golden crust.
Seasonings: I use taco seasoning or Cajun seasoning mix. But at other times salt, pepper, garlic powder, paprika and Italian seasoning is my go to,
Lemon Wedges: Serve with lemon wedges for a fresh flavor.

Instructions
Take your cod fillets in a plate. I cut them to fit in my air fryer. Also be mindful that the thinner parts of the fillet will cook quickly.
So you will need to remove them quicker than the thicker fillets to avoid overcooking.
Pat the fillets dry with paper towels. Now toss them with olive oil and seasonings so that they are well covered.
I have used taco mix here but you can also make your own with salt, pepper, garlic powder, Italian seasonings and paprika.
You can also use other spice mixes that you have.

Preheat your air fryer to 400F or 200C for 4 minutes. Place the fillets in the air fryer basket in a single layer.

Air fry for 7-9 minutes at 400F or 200C. For the thinner parts of fillet, check after 5-6 minutes to ensure that they are not getting overcooked.
The cod is done when it flakes easily with a fork and looks golden brown on the outside. Mine was flaking beautifully and falling apart, as you can see from the images. 🙂

Serve hot with lemon slices and a quick side of roasted veggies or a simple salad.

Expert Tips
- Pat the cod dry before seasoning. This is very important so that it crisps up well.
- This will work with any white fish like halibut, haddock etc.
- Place the fillets in a single layer in air fryer basket so that they cook evenly.
- Cooking time may vary depending on the thickness of your fillets. Be watchful and remove the thinner fillets earlier as soon as they are done. Thicker pieces will need a couple of extra minutes.
- You may use a meat thermometer to check if the fish is cooked through. The thickest part must be at an internal temperature of 145F or 63F.
- Store leftovers in the fridge in airtight container for 2 days. Reheat thoroughly or air fry for a few minutes before consuming.
- Add a sprinkle of fresh herbs or a drizzle of lemon butter before serving for a flavour boost.
