Pumpkin spice also commonly known as pumpkin pie spice is an aromatic spice mix that is commonly used in making a number of pumpkin recipes. Not only that I enjoy putting it on top of my cereal, cookies or bread.

It has such warm notes and a very comforting feel to it. It is an easy blend of fall or winter spices. I find it handy to have pumpkin spice blend at home so that I can use regularly in my recipes.

Here are the pumpkin pancakes that I regularly make. And then there is this crowd favourite pumpkin spice latte that is superbly delicious.

Of course, I make a healthier version of it, and it is a hit with everyone at home. So easy to make too.

    Instructions

    • Mix all the powders together and store in an airtight jar.
    • Your pumpkin pie spice is ready to use.

    Notes

    1. Roasting and freshly powdering cinnamon and clove adds more flavour.
    2. I don’t add allspice but some people swear by it so go with your palate.
    3. The spice mix stays fresh for a few weeks when stored in an airtight container.

So this is what they use in lattes. Interesting. Since this seems to be the year of trying things, I might just make this. Thanks, Rachna.

I was so naive, I thought there would be some pumpkin in it 😀 I might have accidentally made this latte (except for nutmeg) without knowing its fancy name.

I always buy pre-made pumpkin pie spice because I had no idea it was so easy to make from scratch at home! This recipe was great - I'll never need to buy pumpkin pie spice at the store again!
