    Air fryer Beet Chips

    Beet chips in air fryer come out super crispy and delicious. Such a nice snack. Air fryers are excellent for dehydrating fruits and vegetables to make healthy snacks.

    I have made roasted beetroot as well as chips in air fryer to excellent results. I don’t deep fry when it comes to chips or crisps any more.

    I have flavored these chips with just Himalayan pink salt and they taste so good. I have also made a version with brushing of olive oil and another with zero oil. They pretty much taste similar.

    You may also like: sweet potato chips, potato chips, yuca chips, plantain chips, kale chips. If you love beets, do try these pickled beets and roasted beets in air fryer.

    You may also like: banana chips or plantain chips in air fryer, Tapioca chips in air fryer

    Ingredients

    1. Beets: Choose fresh beets. Peel them and slice very thinly using a mandolin or a sharp knife.

    2. Olive oil: Just use a little olive oil for brushing the sliced beet chips.

    You can do these chips oil free too.

    They may look wrinkled but taste fabulous.

    3. Seasoning: I use only Himalayan pink salt and maybe a bit of cracked pepper sometimes.

    Expert Tips

    1. Use fresh beetroot and cut them into even chips. I use my super sharp mandolin for thin, wafer size beetroot slices. You could use a sharp knife as well.

    2. Brush with oil on both sides for a crisp texture after air frying. Oil also helps adhere the salt and spices to the chip.

    3. You can make these chips oil free too. Just toss with some salt and seasonings when done.

    4. You can allow a bit of overlap when you load your air fryer basket. The chips naturally shrink when you air fry them. Shake the basket regularly and you can flip the chips as well when cooking.

    5. To cook more chips at a time, use wooden skewers and thread more of them vertically then air fry. That way you can cook more chips at one go.

    6. I can cooks chips from one beetroot in one batch. They finish off pretty quickly once done.

    7. Just salt and pepper is all you need for seasoning.

    Instructions

    Wash the beetroot, peel them and cut them into even-sized thin slices. This mandolin slicer works really well. Dry them well.

    For with oil version

    Add 2 tsp. olive oil and spread all over the beetroot slices. Add Himalayan salt and pepper (optional) and mix well. It is now ready to air fry.

    For without oil version:

    No need to add olive oil. We will air fry the cut slices as is.

    Air frying beet chips

    Preheat the air fryer at 160C or 320F for 3 minutes. Brush with oil and layer the beetroot slices in the air fryer basket. I let them overlap a bit as they shrink when they air fry.

    Air fry at 160C or 320F for about 10-12 minutes. Keep opening the basket and shaking or flipping them once or twice during air frying. When they get crispy, they start changing their color a bit.

    Remember they crisp up more when taken out.

    If you have not used any oil, then just garnish them with a little salt and pepper and enjoy.

    • ½ tsp. Himalayan pink salt or normal salt

      Good morning! How do you dry the beet slices before brushing/tossing with oil? Do they have to be super dry? And, do you find that it really makes much of a difference to dry them? It seems that some people swear by this extra step and others don't mention it at all.

        Actually, I feel that drying food and then applying oil and spices helps in crisping/drying it really well. I just use paper or cloth towels to dry out the beet chips.
