Homemade chicken burgers are such a delightful meal. I make the burger patties both in the air fryer and on the skillet. They are juicy, flavorful, and so much healthier than store-bought frozen patties. Also, they take no time to cook so it really is super simple to make.

My son loves burgers, and this is great way to making it healthier. God knows what they put in those processed burger patties, right!

Takes me less than 15 minutes to have the burger ready, done from scratch. Fabulous, right.

You will also love: air fryer chicken shawarma, Air fryer BBQ chicken, air fryer chicken manchurian, air fryer chicken al pastor, frozen chicken patties in air fryer.

    Ingredients

Chicken mince: I use ground chicken mince, a mix of breast and thigh meat makes the burgers even juicier.

Egg: It helps bind the patties well.

Seasoned breadcrumbs: They really give the burger a lovely texture.

Salt and pepper: Used to season the chicken patties.

Onion and garlic: I love using finely minced garlic and onion to flavor to the chicken burger patty.

Oil: Used for cooking, especially for the skillet method.

    For serving:

    Burger buns

    Lettuce, tomato, onion

Sauces like Mayo, honey mustard, chilli sauce or whatever you like

    Instructions

    Mixing the Patty

This recipe is so easy. Just assemble all the ingredients of the chicken patty. I have used chicken mince here that is at room temperature. Finely chop or mince the onion and garlic. Assemble the breadcrumbs and season them with Italian seasoning, salt and pepper. You can add finely chopped herbs like parsley too.

In a large bowl, combine the chicken mince, egg, half of the seasoned breadcrumbs, salt and black pepper. Mix gently until just combined.

Divide the mixture into six portions and shape them into burger patties about ½ inch thick.

Now coat them with the remaining bread crumbs and keep aside. You are ready to air fry or skillet fry the chicken burger patties.

    Air Fryer Method
Preheat the air fryer to 180C or 360F for 3 minutes. Lightly grease the air fryer basket with oil, and place the patties inside in a single layer.

Air fry at 180C or 360F for 8 minute flipping them halfway through. Spray with olive oil on both sides for a golden appearance. The patties will be golden brown and fully cooked.

You can check with a meat thermometer to ensure that the internal temperature of 165F or 75C is reached. Your chicken burger patties are ready.

Now toast burger buns after splitting in half in air fryer. I generally do them for a minute at 180C or 360F. Your burger buns are ready.

    Skillet Method
Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Place the patties in the pan and cook for 4-5 minutes each side flipping once.

Cook on medium heat till they are nicely browned and cooked through. You can check with a meat thermometer to ensure that the internal temperature of 165F or 75C is reached.

Your chicken burger patties are done.

Toast your burger buns in the skillet and keep them ready for assembling.

    Assembling the Burger

Spread your favourite sauce or mayo on the bottom of the bun. Top with lettuce, chicken patty, a cheese slice (optional), onion and tomato slices and close with the top of the bun.

Your homemade chicken burger is ready. Dig in!

    Expert Tips

    1. You do not need to marinate the chicken. The chicken patty tastes very flavourful with this method.

    2. Having the chicken mince cold or from the fridge makes it easier to form the patty shape easily.

    3. You can use crushed oats instead of breadcrumbs here when making the patty.

    4. You can add any seasonings you like to your patty.

    5. These chicken patties freeze well. Freeze them after breading. They will stay for 3 months in the freezer. You may also refrigerate and keep the leftovers for upto 3 days in the fridge in an airtight container.
