This vegan trail mix is really super easy to put together. Great for snacking. It is bursting with nutrition. Really, it is not much of a recipe either.

You can make this and store in an airtight container for weeks. Great for snacking or taking along when you travel, for picnics and in lunchboxes.

I like to lightly toast the nuts and seeds. It enhances their flavors. But, you may just add them raw if you so like.

    Ingredients

Nuts and seeds: Use any nuts and seeds of choice. There is absolutely no right or wrong here.

Dry fruit and berries: I used the ones I love. Go easy on the quantity as they have sugar in them. Also add in some dates for natural sweetness.

Optionals: I love dark chocolate chips so I add them sometimes if I am feeling indulgent. Just a handful is good. Make sure they are vegan.

    Instructions

Just assemble all the nuts and seeds you are using. Lightly toast the nuts and seeds so as not to burn them, but just to bring out the flavor.

Cool them down. If you wish, you could chop them into bite-sized pieces. Add in the dry fruit you are using (again chopped to smaller pieces).

Ay optionals that you are adding can go in as well. Mix well and that's it. Your vegan trail mix is done.

Dig in and enjoy a handful.

    Recipe Notes

    1. You can easily store this in an airtight jar for a couple of weeks. It will get over before that, for sure.

    2. I have used almonds and cashews here. But really any nuts of choice work. The same goes for the seeds.

    3. You can easily skip dark chocolate chips. I add them because I love chocolate.

    Instructions

    • I used a combination of raw almonds, walnuts and cashews. You could roast them if you so like.
    • Lightly toast the seeds that you are using (optional). I have used sunflower seeds, flax seeds, sesame seeds and pumpkin seeds
    • Chop any large ingredients into smaller pieces like I did for dried strawberries, cranberries and dates. They help naturally sweeten the trail mix.
    • Mix everything together. I did not add any added sugar or salt.
    • Have a large handful and enjoy your homemade delicious trail mix.

    Notes

    1. Store in an airtight jar so that they stay fresh.
    2. Chop the cranberries, strawberries and dates to bite-sized pieces.
    3. You can use any combination of nuts and seeds, but my proportion of nuts, seeds and dried fruits and berries 2:1:1.
    4. You can skip chocolate chips but they do add to the taste.
    5. Be mindful that dried berries and fruit will have added sugar. So add the quantity that you are comfortable with. Dates will naturally sweeten the trail mix, but they have natural sugar as well.

Trail mix is always something I keep in handy for my hunger pangs. I have always bought it until now, I almost feel stupid that it is so easy to make. I will be making this today evening! Yes, rightaway!

Rachna, this is one recipe I am going to try ASAP! Heading to the store tomorrow. Will pick up all the ingredients. Something I can munch on, guilt free! What’s not to love. Also, question, can I have this along with oats/cornflakes and cold milk as a cereal?

You can have a handful along with your breakfast. Sure, it is a power packed way of adding more nutrition to plain cornflakes or oats.

While I have never had it alone, I do occasionally add it in oats

Will definitely make this Rachana. I don’t particularly go for nuts but my daughter is nuts about trail mixes.
