Ingredients

  • 10 Chicken wings
  • ¼ cup honey
  • 2 tbsp. soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp. minced garlic
  • 1 tsp. Sesame oil
  • ½ tsp. Cayenne optional
  • ½ tsp. Pepper
  • ½ tsp. Salt

Instructions

  • Take chicken wings and cut them into drummettes and wingettes. Dry them very well with kitchen towels or paper towels.
  • They must be perfectly dry so that they crisp up well when air fried.
  • Now apply salt and pepper on the wings.
  • Preheat air fryer at 180C or 360F for 5 minutes.
  • Place chicken wings in the air fryer basket in one layer ensuring that there is no overlap.
  • Air fry at 180C or 360F for 20 minutes till the wings get crispy and slightly browned.
  • You may flip them halfway during air frying.
  • Combine together honey, sesame oil and soy sauce along with minced garlic, cayenne and pepper. I did not need additional salt as the soy sauce was already salty.
  • Heat this sauce in a pan till it thickens a bit. Keep it warm or make it just before the chicken wings get done.
  • This is because when the sauce becomes cold, it does not flow easily.
  • Once the wings are crispy and done, brush or toss them in the honey garlic sauce. You can sprinkle them with sesame seeds.
  • Serve them immediately along with a dip of choice. Enjoy your honey garlic chicken wings.

Notes

1. Dry chicken wings well or they will not turn out crispy.
2. There is no need to use baking powder or flour to make the wings crispy.
3. Don’t overcrowd air fryer basket otherwise the wings will not turn out crispy.
4. Honey garlic sauce can be turned into a glaze by heating it more. If you want a very thick sauce, some cornflour dissolved in water can be used in the sauce.
5. These wings can be stored in an air tight container in the fridge for up to 2 days. Reheat in air fryer and consume.
