Take 1 lb. or ½ kilo English or Persian cucumbers. I did not peel them. Just slice them thinly. You can use a mandolin too. Then peel a small onion and slice it as well.
Add 2 tsp. Salt and keep aside for 15 to 30 minutes. It will release water. Drain it and then lightly wash the cucumber if it tastes too salty. I also spin them in a salad spinner to further drain water. You could dry by leaving in a colander for some time.
In a bowl, whisk together the yogurt, mayonnaise (if using), sugar, salt, pepper, vinegar and chopped dill till you have a smooth dressing.
Add this dressing to the cucumber and onion slices and mix. Ensure that all slices are coated. Taste and add more salt, if needed. Now cover and place in the fridge for 1-2 hours. Then serve your creamy cucumber salad. It is delicious.
You can save leftovers in the fridge for upto a day. It tastes really good.

Notes
If you want a more creamy and luxurious dressing, you can use ½ cup of mayo or sour cream instead of yogurt. Salting the cucumber and onion before adding the dressing, keeps the salad creamy and avoids it becoming watery. You may add sliced radish as well to the salad.Dried dill can be used in place of fresh dill here.If you want more dressing, you can add some more yogurt or mayo to the salad. Remember to add more salt and pepper too along with more vinegar.
