Ingredients

  • 1 lb. Chicken wings or 500 gm.
  • 2 tbsp. Jerk Seasoning
  • ½ tsp. Garlic powder
  • ½ tsp. Onion flakes
  • Olive oil for spraying

Instructions

  • I had whole wings so I cut them into drummettes and wingettes. Dry the wings well using paper towels.
  • Now take jerk seasoning, garlic powder and onion powder in a bowl and mix well.
  • Take chicken wings in a bowl and add the seasoning mix to it. Toss the wings well. Try to coat each wing generously with the spice mix.
  • If you face problems of the spice mix adhering to the wings, then just spray the wings with very little olive oil.

How to cook Jerk chicken wings in air fryer

  • Preheat air fryer at 400F or 200C for 5 minutes.
  • Lay the seasoned wings in air fryer basket making sure there is no overlap.
  • Air fryer at 400F or 200C for 15-20 minutes. Flip the wings midway for even crisping up.
  • Your wings should be done. They will be crispy outside and well cooked and moist inside. A few minutes into the cooking, you will see that the fat starts rendering.
  • This helps crisp up the wing well.
  • Your jerk chicken wings in air fryer are ready to eat. Enjoy.

Oven Instructions:

  • Arrange wings on the rack so that they are not touching.
  • Bake for 45 minutes  till crispy and done. Flip them midway for even cooking.
  • If you have leftover wings, you can try reheating chicken wings in air fryer.

Notes

If you have time, you can let the wings marinate in the seasoning for 15-30 minutes for more flavourful wings.
Do not overcrowd the basket so that the wings cook evenly and come out crispy.
Make sure the wings are very dry when you apply the seasoning or they will get soggy and not crispy.
Some people use baking powder to make the wings crispier, but I prefer to avoid that.
You can add some fresh herbs like parsley or thyme.
You can prepare your own jerk seasoning by combining together 1 tablespoon each garlic powder, onion powder, allspice and dried thyme with 1 teaspoon each cayenne, smoked paprika, pepper, brown sugar and salt.
