Homemade Almond Milk (Step-by-step recipe)

This is a super easy way to make your favourite almond milk at home that tastes better than store bought almond milk. It is vegan and plant-based milk.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup almonds
  • 2-3 dates pitted
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 tsp. vanilla essence optional
  • 3 cups water

Instructions

  • Take 1 cup of almonds and soak them in water for 4-6 hours or overnight.⠀
  • Drain the water. Wash the almonds once. Then blend together the soaked almonds along with 2 dates, 1 pinch salt, 1 tsp. vanilla essence (optional)and 3 cups water till it is well blended.⠀
  • Now using a muslin or cheese cloth, sieve the almond milk through. Squeeze the cloth tightly till you have drained all the almond milk.
  • This almond milk smells and tastes faintly of almonds. You should get about a litre of almond milk using this recipe.
  • Enjoy this refreshing almond milk.

Notes

You can make thicker almond milk by using less water for dilution.⠀
Drink it as it is or use it in your tea and coffee.

Dates are used to give it a pleasant sweetness. You can exclude them if you like.⠀

Don't throw away the sieved almond meal. I used it in my roti dough. You can also use it thicken gravies or bake it and use it on top of your cereals or in your cookies. There are many uses of it.⠀
