Equipment

Ingredients

  • 1 lb. potatoes or 500 gm.
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil or mustard oil
  • 1 tsp. garlic powder
  • ½ tsp. paprika or cayenne
  • ½ tsp. pepper
  • ½ tsp. turmeric optional
  • ½ tsp. oregano
  • ½ tsp. Salt

Instructions

  • Cut 1 lb. Potatoes into same-sized cubes. You can leave the skin on or peel it as per preference. Dry and keep aside.
  • Preheat air fryer at 390F or 200 C for 4 minutes.
  • Toss the potatoes in oil and seasoning to coat well. Immediately put them into air fryer basket. Spread them out in one layer. Some overlapping is fine.
  • Air fry at 200C or 390F for about 12-15 minutes till they are crispy outside and fluffy inside. Shake the basket once every few minutes for even cooking. I pick out one piece and check it for doneness.
  • Take it out and serve hot with sautéed vegetables and protein of choice. Your breakfast is ready.

Notes

1. Cut the potatoes into even-sized cubes. You can peel them or leave the peel on as per your taste.
2. If you have the time, soak the cut potatoes for 15 minutes in water. This helps in giving you crisper potatoes. But if you don’t have time, cook them right away.
3. Use any seasoning of choice. Generally I use,1 tsp. Garlic powder, ½ tsp. Oregano, ½ tsp. Pepper, ½ tsp. turmeric (for the gorgeous golden colour), ½ tsp. Paprika and salt to taste works really well every single time.
4. You can use lemon juice to help the spices adhere and toss the potatoes in them if you want a zero-oil version.
5. Yukon gold work well as well as most other potatoes.
6. Season your potatoes just before you are putting them in for air frying. If you keep them for some time with seasoning then they start releasing moisture and do not crisp up well.
