Air fryer Pineapple

Roasted pineapple in air fryer is deliciously sweet with a hint of spice. Excellent as a sweet treat or just fruit. Very easy recipe.

Ingredients

  • 1 pineapple cut into rings and halved
  • 2 tbsp. honey or maple syrup or brown sugar
  • 1 tsp. ground pepper or chilli flakes
  • ½ tsp. ground cinnamon

Instructions

  • Remove the outer skin of the pineapple and cut into ½ inch thick rounds. You can core the pineapple using a corer and cut it into rings but I leave it as it is.
  • Now further halve it.
  • Add 2 tbsp. honey or maple syrup or brown sugar, ½ tsp. ground cinnamon and 1 tsp. ground pepper or chilli flakes.
  • Preheat air fryer at 200C or 390F for 4 minutes. Lay the slices in air fryer basket. I used a parchment paper to line the basket. It makes clean up easier.
  • Air fry pineapple slices at 200C or 390F for about 8-10 minutes.
  • It will begin to brown on the edges. I don’t flip the slices but you can flip them and cook for a couple of minutes more for even colour.
  • That’s it your roasted pineapple is ready. Take it out and eat is as it is.
  • Or you can add it to salads, tacos or Asian dishes. It is so delicious. Perfect as a sweet treat too. Your kids will love them.

Notes

1. Use fresh pineapple. Cut it into rings. You can core your pineapple if you like.
2. You can use any spice that you like. BBQ sauce brushed on pineapple tastes nice and smoky too.
3. Don’t let your pineapple slices get too browned. They start tasting a bit burnt then.
4. You can store the air fried pineapple rings in the fridge for a couple of days. You can eat them cold or air fry again at 200C or 390F for 2-3 minutes to heat them up.
5. This recipe is vegetarian. You can use maple syrup or brown sugar for dairy free version.
