Ingredients

  • 1 cucumber sliced
  • 2 lemon medium sized sliced
  • 2 tbsp. mint
  • 2 inch ginger sliced
  • 8 cups water still or sparkling
  • Ice cubes optional

Instructions

  • Rinse the cucumber and lemon thoroughly.
  • Slice both the cucumber and lemon into thin rounds.
  • Peel an inch of ginger and slice into thin pieces.
  • Take a handful of mint leaves and wash them well.
  • In a large pitcher, add the cucumber, lemon, ginger slices with mint.
  • Fill the pitcher with cold water (about 8 cups) and stir well.
  • Let it infuse for about 30 minutes.
  • You may use sparkling water too. In which case just use chilled sparkling water at the time of drinking.
  • Enjoy this simple yet delightful drink that's perfect for a refreshing summer break.
  • You can keep this in the fridge from an hour to overnight. Consume within two days or else it gets too lemony.
  • I also end up topping a bit for a day. In case, you feel the flavour has really muted, add some more sliced veggies.

Notes

1. Use fresh ingredients: Fresh cucumber, lemon, and ginger really elevate the taste of this water.
2. Slice Thinly: This helps in infusing water faster and gives more flavour to the water.
3. Wash the vegetables well so that there is no dirt or pesticides on them.
4. Infusion Time: The longer you let the water sit, the stronger the flavors will be. You can drink it right away, but allowing it to infuse overnight in the fridge really takes it up a notch.

5. Stir the water before serving to ensure all the flavors are evenly distributed.

6. Add ice cubes for added refreshing taste. But this will dilute the water further if allowed to sit around.
7. Reuse the vegetables and refill the pitcher a couple of times. The flavour will weaken slightly after each refill though.
