Ingredients

  • 4 bok choy
  • 1 tsp. Olive oil or sesame oil
  • ½ tsp. Chopped garlic or use garlic powder
  • ½ tsp. Pepper
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  • Clean bok choy well. Make sure that all the grime is washed away.
  • Cut them into halves if using baby bok choy. If using larger bok choy, separate the large leaves and stalks.
  • Mix together olive oil, salt, pepper and minced garlic (or garlic powder).
  • Toss the bok choy with the seasonings to coat well.
  • If you don’t wish to use oil, then substitute with veg stock or lemon juice to help adhere the seasonings.
  • Preheat air fryer at 390F or 200C for 4 minutes.
  • Lay bok choy leaves in air fryer. You can allow them to overlap a little.
  • Air fryer for 2-4 minutes at 390F or 200C for bok choy with slightly crispy edges that is cooked.
  • For charred chips like bok choy, air fry for about 6-7 minutes at 390F or 200C.
  • Your bok choy is ready. Serve it hot as a vegetable side or enjoy as a healthy snack. Super easy beginner-friendly recipe.

Notes

1. Choose fresh green bok choy. Cut off the base. Clean the leaves and stalks well and separate leaves for cooking quickly in the air fryer.
2. If using baby bok choy, you can just cut them into halves and use.
3. This needs very little seasoning. Just five basic ingredients — olive oil, salt, pepper and chopped garlic. You may use garlic powder in place of chopped garlic.
4. Just toss bok choy leaves with the seasoning and put in preheated air fryer basket.
5. Air fry till the edges are crispy and bok choy looks cooked but retains a bite. Take out and serve hot.
6. You can air fry more till the leaves are nice and charred just like crunchy chips. Eat them as a snack. You can eat the crispy stalk as well.
