  • 2 tsp. paprika or Kashmiri red chilli powder
  • 1 tsp. kasuri methi or dried oregano
  • 1 tbsp. lemon juice
  • ¾ tsp. pepper

  • 1 tbsp. oil Mustard oil or olive oil
  • Salt to taste

Basting

  • 1 tsp. oil

Garnish

  • Lemon wedges
  • Onion rings

Instructions

  • Clean and devein tiger shrimp or prawns. I leave the tails on for easy handling but you can take them off.
  • Dry them well.
  • Now take all the ingredients for marinade and mix together to form a thick marinade. It is important that the marinade be nice and thick and not runny.
  • Generously apply the marinade all over the shrimp and leave to marinate for 30 minutes to 1 hour.
  • If you are using wooden skewers, keep them immersed in water for 15 minutes before using.

To Air fry shrimp

  • Preheat airfryer to 360 F or 180 C for 5 minutes.
  • Spray or brush the basket with some oil. Now skewer the marinated shrimp.
  • Put 3 or more skewers in air fryer basket. This will depend upon the size of your basket.
  • Air fry at 360 F or 180 C for about 6 minutes for large or tiger shrimp. Adjust the cooking time to the size of your shrimp and the model of your air fryer.
  • Medium shrimp may take 3-4 minutes.
  • Once done, the shrimp look red and opaque. Don’t overcook.
  • Serve hot with lemon wedges and onion rings.

Skillet or Grill

  • Take a little oil or butter in the skillet and let it heat. Place the marinated shrimp and cook them for 1-2 minutes each side and they are done.
  • Any sauce can be spooned on top of the cooked shrimp.
  • On a grill brush a little butter or oil. Then lay the shrimp skewers and cook for 2-3 minutes on both sides or till grilled perfectly on both sides.

Notes

  1. Don’t overcook the shrimp. Make sure that you start checking them after 2-3 minutes in the air fryer. 2. For a spicier marinade add more pepper powder. You can use cayenne as well. 3. For lower spice you can omit pepper powder. 4. Use paprika or Kashmiri chilli powder for low heat and a beautiful colour to the chicken. 5. Oil in the marinade helps keep the shrimp moist when cooking. I did not need oil to baste my shrimp. 6. This is a delicious low carb, high protein, keto-friendly shrimp recipe that is perfect for weight watchers. 7. Others can pair it with pasta or rice. Have it as a side or a starter. It is super tasty and a complete crowd pleaser at parties.
