Air fryer Fried Green Tomatoes

1. Wash and dry each tomato. Cut into ¼” thick round slices. Lightly sprinkle salt on each side and keep aside for 5 minutes.

2. Mix flour, breadcrumbs (or cornmeal and breadcrumbs), cayenne, pepper and salt. Take buttermilk or vegan buttermilk or 2 eggs in another shallow dish.

3. Wipe tomato slices. Dip in buttermilk and dredge in the breading. Press so that each side is nicely coated. Preheat air fryer at 360F or 180C for 4 minutes. Lay breaded tomatoes.

4. Air fry at 360F or 180C for 8-10 minutes till they are golden and crispy on the outside. You can lightly brush each side with oil for a golden appearance midway into air frying.

5. Your fried green tomatoes without cornmeal are ready.  Serve with a dip of choice or a nice tomato salsa.
